Rain or shine? Both of them!

Lombok, March 18, 2022: Having landed in paradise on the other side of the world, in Lombok in Indonesia, today the two drivers of Angeluss MTA Racing began to familiarize themselves with the Mandalika Circuit, first with the wet and then with the dry, laying a solid foundation for tomorrow’s qualifying.

While Iván Ortolá , if with the wet conditions of the first session he was fast, but was still 1.2 seconds away from the first, at the end of the second free practice session, in which the track began to clear up, he managed to stop the clock at 1’41.6 , being able to win the 10th position in the combined standings.

It was a very positive day as we were able to test in both wet and dry conditions. I was able to test various important things for the race and tomorrow, both me and the bike, we can take a step forward. If tomorrow it rains during FP3 we will be directly inside Q2, otherwise we will have to give ourselves gas because the times will drop even more with the track being cleaned. We hope to have a good time! ”.

Also for Stefano Nepa , the day ended positively. In fact, despite the extreme conditions of the track during the first session, in which there was reduced visibility, he managed to snatch a good 10th time, then improved during the dry session of the afternoon which, however, earned him only one 17th position , one second behind the fastest ever.

It was a pretty good day. I liked the track right from the start even though I struggled to understand certain points because they are really complicated and I still have some difficulties in the fast points, but I picked up the pace. So we have to work on that, otherwise I’m like the rest for the rest. Tomorrow if it doesn’t rain, I can enter Q2 and we’ll see for qualifying.

Alessandro Tonucci , team manager of Angeluss MTA Racing, is happy with the work done on this new track and is already thinking about how to advance his guys as much as possible during tomorrow’s qualifying: “If Iván manages to fix some points on the exit of the curve, he can stay in the leading group. Stefano struggled a bit, but also with him we saw what points to improve. Let’s see tomorrow if it will rain or not to try and get both of us into Q2. ”
